Groups show how much pride they really have
Over the weekend, I got the chance to see just how much pride Ypsilanti residents have in their city.
I attended Ypsi P.R.I.D.E. on Saturday where a large number of groups with hundreds of volunteers worked to clean up the city.
When I first got into the city, I noticed they were everywhere-at the fire department and at different places located throughout downtown as well as the parks.
Instead of going out and enjoying the much-needed break from the rainy weather, these people were out planting flowers, cleaning up trash and doing anything else that they could to help make the city look better.
Volunteers ranged from city officials to college students to children, all working together with the same goal.
All I could think about is that other communities need to follow the lead of Ypsilanti. It’s amazing what people can do when they organize themselves and work together. Instead of sitting around complaining about how the city looks, they went out and did something about it.
